Natural Language Speech

TRI has provided a prototype continuous speech recognition technology that maintains high accuracy in high noise environments. TRI has also developed user friendly tools to interface this Natural Language Speech (NLS) System with decision aid support components to simulate a Crew Station. The speech interface was architectured as a set of modular, reusable and adaptable components, to be used by the domain expert to meet the functional requirements for any application. TRI's NLS System and interface tools provides a rapid application prototype integration approach for the implementation of this advanced Human Computer Interface (HCI) in preparation for Battle Lab/AWE demonstration.

The NLS technology can be used to speech enable military Command, Control and Communications (C3), fire control, mission planning, weapons control, training, tele-medicine, mobile hands-free communication operations, unmanned vehicle control, ground/air traffic control, maintenance actions, riot control and police activities. Commercial sector applications include training simulators, video games, vendor kiosks, entertainment, manufacturing, appliances, virtual reality, tele-robotics, tele-medicine internet access and multimedia control.
